Welcome to Invasive Eats
Every year, invasive species cause more than $120 billion in economic damage in the United States alone. The toll taken on native species is even greater, with habitat erosion, competition and displacement pushing some to the brink of extinction.
While there’s no magic bullet to fix this problem, I believe encouraging the pursuit of invasives as game is a massive step in the right direction.
With Invasive Eats, I hope to provide a comprehensive guide to eating invasives, taking my readers from field to plate.
Have a look around, and if you like what you see, take up the cause and help me slow the spread of invasive species one plateful at a time.
I'm James Noonan. I hunt, I fish and I cook. While working as a newspaper reporter in California's Napa Valley, I was able to witness and document the risks and damages that come along with invasive species. I hope you'll join me in this venture to help take invasives out of our forests, rivers and oceans and put them in our kitchens, dining rooms and, eventually, our stomachs.
